Recording with Screncast-o-matic

1. Click on: Launch Recorder

1.1. Install Web Launch Recorder

If you never installed the recorder before, it will download.

Once it finishes downloading, click on it to install. You should not see many prompts.

2. Choose what to record

You have the option to record just your screen, or just the webcam, or both. You can choose.

3. Max Time

Max time for free users is 15 minutes.

4. Size

Choose either a portion of the screen, or the active window, or fullscreen.

5. Set Recording Area

If you are recording in 480p or 720p, you can choose where on your screen you want to record. Click and drag the zebra viewing box to select where you want to record.

6. Set up Narration

If you have a webcam or a laptop, it most likely has an internal microphone built in. If you have a headset that you can plug in to record audio, you can select it from this option first.

6.1. Check if Microphone is Working

If you do have a working microphone, you will see green bars fill up to represent the volume of your voice.

7. Computer Audio

The free version does not include computer audio.

8. Press Record

Ready to begin? Press the red: Rec button.

A countdown will begin. Once it says GO, you may begin.

9. Pause Recording

At any moment, you can press Pause to pause recording.

10. Continue or Finish

If you want to resume recording, press the Rec button. If you are done, press the Done button.

11. Save/Upload Video

If you are done, you should see the What's Next box. Click on Save/Upload

12. Save as Video File

13. Rename File Name

14. Browse for Folder

15. Review and Publish

16. Upload to Google Drive or Google Classroom

When you are done publishing the video, upload it to your Google Drive or Google Classroom. If you add it to Google Drive first, you can add it as a material or assignment on your Google Classroom.
